Social Enterprise Australia

WaterAid is a social enterprise focused on providing safe water to people in the developing countries. The second biggest cause of children´s death under fiver years old is the crisis of water and sanitation, making this their main motivation.

These are the facts:

Over 650 million people live without safe water.

2.3 billion people don’t have access to adequate sanitation, one in three of the world’s population.

Over 500,000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. (1,400 children a day)

They work with local partners to invest in future local communities, then they work with the communities to influence governments and other service providers to prioritise safe water and sanitation.
WaterAid provides financial support, training and technical advice as well as planning, budgeting and institutional development. They seek funds from other sources.
